  • Waking Up to Beauty October 2008

    Greetings

First thing every morning I stumble out to my patio with my cup of tea and admire these lovely morning glories. I watch the bees crawl down inside them to get some nectar. It's a great way to start the day - with beauty.

Moment-by-moment we have a choice in our life. Where are we going to focus our energy? Are we going to entertain Fear or Faith? Entertaining fear causes us to act in less-than-ideal ways. With all that is transpiring in our world today, it's easy to slip into the energy of fear.

For most of my life I've been ruled by fear. I'm made too many choices based on fear - choices I've regretted. I kept myself "small" with those fear-based decisions. I'm grateful I've learned to make the journey from fear to faith. It's similar to the journey from "head" to "heart".

Making decisions based on love and faith have proven to be better choices for me.

How do you start each day? What attitude will prevail in your life today? We don't have the ability to control everything in our life, but we do have the ability to change our attitude.

"We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way. -Victor Frankl

My brother, Marvin, died in his early 60's from colon cancer. When it was clear that nothing could be done to save him, he embraced his death and died gracefully. He was a great role model for me when I was growing up. and his attitude toward his death was the final gift he gave me. I'm grateful.

This photo of my granddaughter, Lexi, was done on my iMac. I have a feature called "Photo Booth" that allows all sorts of special effects. Every time she and Sadie come for a visit, she can't wait to get on my computer. When she leaves, I find all these bizarre images she has created. I thought I share one of her creations.

    Successful ADD Awareness Event!!!

The ADD Awareness event that our local support group sponsored last month was a big success. Over 30 people attended and learned of new treatments for ADHD. Each of the vendors gave a brief talk about the product or service they offer to the ADD community.

Many people thanked me at the end of the evening for bringing these people together to share their resources. We had a practitioner who does Lens-Neurofeedback. We had a professional organizer, two life coaches, a homeopathic practitioner and a tutor. Thanks to all who attended, presented and participated.

A week later we had Gina Pera come to our ADD Support group and speak about her new book: Is it Me, You or Adult ADD? Stopping the Roller Coaster When Somone You love Has Attention Deficit Disorder. Gina was a big hit. We had over 50 people in attendance. Her book is great, especially if you have a partner who has ADD. For more information about her book visit ADHDRollerCoaster.com
